Brooklyn Tours:
Here are a few tours offered by PSP Members and Park Slope community members about how to get to learn more about Brooklyn:
What one parent experienced: "the tour was fun--like taking a walk with a friend through the park, if your friend carried laminated historic photos and knew the weird details of Frederick Law Olmstead's personal life. Kate's a local mom and she's writing a book on the park. It was $20 a person for a 90-minute tour and we feel like we know the park a lot better."
Greenwood Cemetery offers trolley tours
What one parent says: "one of my favorite Brooklyn tours is from Brooklyn Parrots, which takes you to see wild parrot colonies at Brooklyn College and Greenwood Cemetery."
Made in Brooklyn (not kid-friendly)
Eclectic, energetic tours of numerous Brooklyn neighborhoods, including Park Slope, by longtime (though recently departed) Slope resident and veteran tour guide Norman Oder. Most tours are walking tours, with occasional use of public transit; tours by vehicle are also available. Tours are geared to adults, but curious teens enjoy them too.
