1. MOST CONVENIENT:
The NYC Department of Sanitation will be conducting special curbside collections for mulching and recycling of Christmas trees from Tuesday, January 3, 2017 through Saturday, January 14, 2017. Easy peasy! But be sure to remove all tree stands, tinsel, lights, and ornaments from trees before they are put out at curbside for removal. Trees must not be placed into plastic bags. Clean, non-bagged Christmas trees that are left on the curb between Jan 3rd - Jan 14th will be collected, chipped, and made into compost.
2. MOST FUN:
The most fun way to recycle your tree is at Mulchfest! On the first weekend in January,
More info: On Saturday, January 7th, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Sunday, January 8th, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. you can bring your tree to Mulchfest at Prospect Park (either bt Park Circle at Parkside Avenue and the other, at Third Street at Prospect Park West). Your tree will be turned into environment-friendly ground cover. You can take home free mulch for your own garden. While you wait for your mulch at the Third Street entrance, you can enjoy hot chocolate and watch the chipper do its job. It smells amazing too!

3. MOST URGENT: "I JUST NEED IT OUT OF HERE"
You can bring your tree to a drop-off site from Saturday, December 31, 2016 through Sunday, January 8, 2017. Leave your tree with NYC Parks, and they’ll recycle it for you later! Read more and find a drop off site >
4. MOST ADVENTUROUS
Visit beautiful Green-Wood Cemetery, which is open all year round and they take branches and cuttings all year round too! To get there, simply go to the main entrance at 5th Ave (you can ask for directions there) or take the very first left (it looks like a walking path after the arches).
5. MOST CREATIVE
if you saw off a piece of the bottom and put a date, phrase, or other design on it, and you have a Christmas ornament from last year's Christmas tree for next year's Christmas tree!
