What do you think when you hear the phrase “public safety?”
Guns, gangs, and muggers? While these are these are real concerns, you might be surprised to learn that more New York City children, ages 1-12, are killed by cars than by guns (or anything else). Yet, as a City, we are not doing enough to stop these preventable crashes and make our streets safe.
Neighbors here in Park Slope are coming together to change that.
On December 3rd, please join the Park Slope Street Safety Partnership, a new group of community organizations and elected officials, for a forum on street safety in our district. Here are the details:
Neighborhood Forum on Street Safety in Park Slope
Tuesday, December 3
6:30pm to 8:30 pm
Park Slope United Methodist Church
410 6th Avenue at 8th Street
The meeting will focus on how we can improve street safety, from enforcement to engineering to education. The New York City Department of Transportation and the 78th Precinct will be there to listen to your input.
If you can’t make it on the 3rd, you can still be part of this conversation. We hope that Park Slope Street Safety Partnership will be a place for continued discussion and action as we take this campaign forward.
