- ISO a good Robotics summer camp for a 9 yoOur daughter (8 yrs) loves the Brooklyn Robot Foundry. We have used it multiple times over the years. She is a fan and always ends up making cool & fun robotic projects.
- Bright Horizons: Brooklyn Robot Foundry and Steve and Kate's campIf anyone has the Bright Horizons benefit through work, I recently found out that Brooklyn Robot Foundry is one of their providers for when school is closed (for their one day holiday camps)- https://brooklynrobotfoundry.com/school-holidays/ (you book through Bright Horizons first though). My son had a blast yesterday at their Gowanus location, and they have additional dates coming up in April if you're around for the spring break week. I just wanted to put in a plug if your kid is slightly older since I have so many hours expiring.
- Brooklyn Robot Foundry for 5-year-old?My son took a week of Robotry camp last summer right after he turned 6 (he was a rising first grader). He LOVED it and I felt it was age appropriate for him. We'll do it again next summer most likely!
- Shout out for Brooklyn Robot Foundry's virtual camp!Wanted to give an enthusiastic shout out to the Brooklyn Robot Foundry for their excellent 1/2 day virtual camps! Our high-energy, soon-to-be 8 year old is in her second week and has been totally absorbed. When we received the email indicating that robot camps had been designed for kids to be self-sufficient, we were dubious to say the least! Remote schooling for us was extremely hands-on, and we couldn't imagine virtual camp keeping our kiddo occupied for 3 hours. But it has!! The younger kid sessions include not only a daily robot build (with circuits, batteries, LEDs, springs, motors, etc. -- all sent in a kit in advance of the session), but also an art project, structured movement break, snack/story time, and game. They are run in small groups, so the instructors can really give 1:1 attention, and our daughter knows the other campers by name. The instructors are patient and fun. Brooklyn Robot Foundry virtual camp has been one of the few times in the last 4 months that my husband and I have both been able to get work done, knowing that our daughter is learning and having fun on her own! What a gift! Details here: https://brooklynrobotfoundry.com/summer-sessions/
- 2018 Summer Camp ReviewsAge of child: 6.5 Summer 2018 Review: Loved the different projects, playing outside.
- Review from the 2017 PSP Summer Camp SurveyAlthough at the young end of the age spectrum, my kid loved Brooklyn robot foundry. And the things they made were pretty cool! We will be back next year. Age of child: 4 (entering kindergarten) Based on a Summer 2017 experience
- Advice needed: mini camps 8/28-9/8We love love love Brooklyn Robot Foundry! It's brilliant . Our son enjoys it so much. He is getting so many skills and learning through this fun program.
- Review from Kids Birthday and Bar/Bat Mitzvah Party Survey - 2016Age of child: 4 Venue Review: Fantastic. We had approximately 16 four year olds, and they had a fantastic time with the activity (parachute robots) - it was a great, age appropriate party that we (and so many other) parents loved.
- Review from Kids Birthday and Bar/Bat Mitzvah Party Survey - 2016Age of child: 5 Venue Review: My son loves the Brooklyn Robot Foundry (in general) and he was very excited to have his 5th birthday party there. It is a small venue but definitely workable. We invited 10 kids and parents were welcome to stay as well. They can accommodate up to 20 kids (with no parents). The party itself is short (1.5 hours) and it is solely focused on each child building their own Robot and decorating it. They confirm via email one week prior to your party, the number of participants to ensure they have enough staff to accommodate the kids. All the kids seemed to have a great time. I will say the staff is pretty low affect but that was not a problem for us. It could also be because we were the last party of the day and they were exhausted by then... As for the gift bags. I supplemented the ones they hand out and I am glad I thought to do so. The BRF gave out squishy circuits but I'd say it was not so much fun for the kids. I added Robot themed micro toys and it made the gift bag better IMHO.
