I'm writing to recommend Private Picassos studio for birthday parties. They recently opened a new space in Clinton Hill (formerly Mekelburg’s) that has something for everyone. They are wonderful and want more people to know about them!! I have zero affiliation except being a happy parent and community member. We hosted my 10yo daughter’s birthday party with Private Picassos recently and they were super responsive, accommodating of our dietary needs and activity requests, and even helped pivot our theme last minute when my daughter changed her preferences. They handled everything from food to goody bags have a bunch of themes you can choose from or design your own, and it was a very stress free experience. The staff was lovely. They also host in-home parties — it’s how the business started— that we did for several years before the Clinton Hill space opened. The studio is beautifully spacious! It has a party space in the back, a small garden, lots of materials and even a calming nook for artists to take a break and read a story. Highly recommend!
  • Art bday party idea for 6yo

My “I’m an artist” daughter adores Private Picassos and we did her birthday party there! I believe they’ve expanded to do the parties at 390 Social now, which can include more kids and the option for adults to purchase alcohol! Huge fan of Private Picassos for both birthdays and in general!
  • Mini camps for Ks February break

This place is wonderful for art classes and camps but it’s one with short hours (9-12). https://www.privatepicassos.com/summer-art-camp
  • Bday party entertainment recos

Last year, we did an art package with private Picasso’s, and it was a nice activity for the kids.
  • Art supplies

Private Picasso's on 5th Av--you can order for pick up
  • Seeking Drawing class for 7 year old

The group classes at Private Picasso on 5th Avenue are wonderful, and they also offer private one-on-one or group classes. My daughter is only 5.5 but she loves art and I have been so impressed with the teachers she’s had there.
  • [Winter2016Babies] Indoor play gyms?

We are huge fans of Private Picasso, because our older daughter loves it, but it cracks me up to see kids [my child]'s age (actually younger!) there not destroying everything in sight! The idea of giving [my child] free range of the paint area . . . no one would be safe! We stick to crayons with that guy at this point :) For those with almost two-year-olds who are more Isaac-like, the modeling clay activity is great, because there is less potential for destruction, and they also have lots of books, magnatiles, and you can let them color with markers on the paper-covered tables, so if you pay for one activity (or an activity for an older kid) there is plenty to keep them busy for quite a long time! They are also fine with people eating snack/lunch there, there is a changing table in the bathroom and a potty seat/step stool for potty trained kids.

I did drop-in art at Private Picassos with both of my kids, both love it there. Mine just did painting but there are plenty of other options, too. It's $15/activity. I attached a photo for those interested. Fyi: I've gotten there at 10am before and had to wait 15 min outside for someone to show up to open up the place (they open at 10a).
