Want to post a real estate message to sell or rent property on the Park Slope Parents Classifieds Group? Great! Here are the requirements for real estate posts, plus some guidelines for getting the best response.

NOTE: Real estate posts are screened by special moderators, so there may be a 24–36 hour delay in posting.

POLICY:

***POSTING ISO SUBLETS/RENTAL/SALE PROPERTIES***

Members can post ISO real estate for themselves AND can also post on behalf of family/friends looking to visit or move to Brooklyn.  If you are posting on behalf of a non-member, we ask that you yourself act as the first point of contact (provide your own contact info) and make the connection between a member offering a property and your friend or family member.

***POSTING LOCAL “FOR SALE” &  LOCAL “LONG-TERM RENTAL” POSTS - once a WEEK***

We limit these Real Estate posts to once weekly so that inboxes/digests won't become clogged with the same properties over and over. Properties should be by the owner only (no posts for friends), or if you are vacating your apartment and want someone to take over your rental.  Please submit Open House posts 2-3 days in advance so they can be posted in a timely manner.

***OFFERING SHORT TERM SUBLETS, VACATION HOMES, TIME SHARES AND OUT OF TOWN RENTAL PROPERTIES –once a MONTH (No more than 10 times a year)***

These posts are allowed once a month by the owner (not for friends, family members, or co-op members). (Posts on our Classifieds needs to remain members-only, as the few complaints we’ve received have been posts by members for friends/family gone awry.) If you are interested in posting more frequently, email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for rates.

NOTE:  Familiarize yourself with the NYS rental and sublet laws that include limits on subletting units in a multiple dwelling building as well as tax and rent control issues: https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/868/new-york--ny

*** REQUIREMENTS FOR FOR SALE/RENT POSTS***

-DON'T FORGET THE PRICE... This is a key piece of information for those searching for a new home or office since money is a key element in finding property.

-SIGN YOUR POST!... As with all posts on PSP, we require a signature to increase accountability and the community feel of the boards. Include your name at the bottom of emails EVEN if your name is in your email address or if your post contains your name in a "Contact _____ for more information.”

-NO BROKER SELF POSTS... Real Estate posts on the classifieds are limited to those selling/renting the apartment, a current tenant looking for someone to take over their lease, etc.  It is fine to post your property if you are using a broker, and fine to post the broker's contact information if that's your preference, but Real Estate brokers themselves are not permitted to post their properties on the classifieds. Real Estate Agents can contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for information about how to get your properties posted.

-NO DISCRIMINATION... It is illegal to discriminate based on a person’s actual or perceived race, color, national origin, gender (including gender identity), disability, sexual orientation, creed, marital status, partnership status, alienage or citizenship status, any lawful source of income, age, lawful occupation, or because children are or may be residing with the person.

-NO SCHOOL ZONE REFERENCES... Given Fair Housing laws, do NOT reference the zoned school (as these could change before a family sends their child to school).

*** GUIDELINES***

These are not required but would be helpful in getting the best response:

-POST WEEKEND OPEN HOUSES BY THURSDAY EVENING

Posts are not always approved immediately, and it takes time for enough posts to accumulate for a digest to go out. Post weekend open houses by Thursday evening for best results.

 -LOCATION

 -NUMBER OF ROOMS

 -ACCESSIBILITY

 Stairs/Elevator? Wheelchair accessible?

 -LINKS TO PHOTOS AND FLOORPLAN

These are always helpful in determining if the property would be of interest to a prospective buyer or renter.  It's also a good idea to check your links and make sure they're working before hitting send.

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS

 -Is it a non-smoking dwelling?

 -It is child-friendly?

 -Any pets/allergy concerns?
